About AgriShare NYC

AgriShare NYC is a data sharing platform that brings together two forms of advocacy — political and interpersonal. AgriShare allows you to share personalized information about your farm, exchange resources with other urban food producers, and contribute to a network of growers highlighting the impact, value, and resource gaps of urban agriculture. You can use AgriShare to:

• - Add or update information about your farm or garden
• - Showcase your farm’s production and impact
• - Share and receive resources with other farms and gardens
• - Highlight resource gaps and join a constituency of urban food producers

The mobile application and website were developed by two groups, ShareShed NYC and AgriMap NYC, both of which are committed to building a resilient, well-resourced environment for urban agriculture. The platform brings together the goals of both organizations — a grower-led census of New York City’s urban food production from AgriMap and a resource-sharing platform from ShareShed. The strategies for creating these platforms were parallel. Both groups conducted a series of one-on-one interviews and workshops with a diverse group of food producers. Our collaboration highlights the importance of both mutual aid and policymaking.

This platform exists thanks to the input of growers at NYCHA, NYC public school gardeners, commercial farms, community gardens, and institutional farming projects. The information reflected in the surveys, priorities established, and incorporation of resource-sharing into higher-level emphasis on the contributions of NYC’s food producers, are all the product of grower voices and feedback.
